A former Mineral Springs athlete is in training for this year's Olympics. David Johnson, a 1999 graduate of Mineral Springs High School, hopes to try out for the US team in the 400 meter run.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, AR (KSLA)- A former Southern Arkansas University freshman facing felony charges for her alleged role in the theft of and cruelty to five horses from the SAU rodeo team stables waived her right to arraignment in a Columbia County District Court Thursday. That cleared the way for a trial date to be set for July 26th or 27th.

Southern Arkansas University officials will break ground for the new Agriculture Center at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8th. The ceremony will take place at the construction site just north of the University Science Center.
An Arkansas mother and a man she knew face juvenile rape and abuse charges after a teen told detectives she had been forced to have sex with the man.
Hempstead County investigators arrested 65-year-old Bobby Parks of Blevins, AR for rape and sexual indecency with a child. They also arrested 35-year-old Danette Moore of Geona, AR for permitting the abuse of a minor. Both are felonies.
UPDATE: The Hempstead County Sheriff's Office says Charlotte Bryant has been found safe. Deputies have not given any other details as to her whereabouts or when she was found.
