Groundbreaking set for SAU agriculture center

Southern Arkansas University officials will break ground for the new Agriculture Center at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8th. The ceremony will take place at the construction site just north of the University Science Center.

2 arrested in AR on juvenile rape and abuse charges

An Arkansas mother and a man she knew face juvenile rape and abuse charges after a teen told detectives she had been forced to have sex with the man.

Hempstead County investigators arrested 65-year-old Bobby Parks of Blevins, AR for rape and sexual indecency with a child. They also arrested 35-year-old Danette Moore of Geona, AR for permitting the abuse of a minor. Both are felonies.

UPDATE: The Hempstead County Sheriff's Office says Charlotte Bryant has been found safe. Deputies have not given any other details as to her whereabouts or when she was found.

Harvest Texarkana kicks off "Give Us a Lift" campaign

The Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank needs your help replenishing its savings account after it had to replace its forklift at the end of December. The charity is launching a two-month "Give Us a Lift" campaign to raise the money they need.

Body found in Columbia Co. barn

COLUMBIA COUNTY, AR (KSLA)- Columbia County Sheriff's Department officials and Arkansas State Police continue their investigation Friday into the discovery of a body in a barn.

Thursday evening, Arkansas State Police say the body of a middle-aged, white man was found in a barn, located off County Road 21 in Welcome, Arkansas.

A man who went to the barn to do some farm work reportedly discovered the body and called authorities.

The body was sent off for an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The body has not yet been identified.

77 yr. old woman found dead inside AR home

COLUMBIA COUNTY, AR (KSLA)- An early morning house fire claimed the life of a 77-year-old McNeil, Arkansas woman Monday morning, according to Arkansas fire officials.

The fire reportedly broke out shortly after 1 a.m. Columbia County, Arkansas Sheriff, Mike Loe says McNeil Volunteer Firefighters were not able to reach Betty Sanders, 77 and she was not able to escape the flames and as a result died inside the home.
