SAU falls to North Alabama in first round of regional tournament

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The battle of the aces went to seventh-seeded North Alabama Thursday in the first game of the 2011 NCAA Division II South Region tournament as Lion starter Trey Mitchell out-dueled Southern Arkansas senior right-hander Dan Bream (Coldwater, Mich.) in guiding UNA to an 8-3 upset of the 12th-ranked and second-seeded Muleriders. 

SAU (36-15) falls to the loser’s bracket and will play at 10 a.m. Friday against No. 13 Tampa (6th seed), who lost 4-1 to No. 16 Harding (3rd seed) in Thursday’s second game.  The Bisons advance to face North Alabama in Friday’s 4:30 p.m. game.
