Summit Bank Poker Run kicks off this weekend

The third annual Summit Bank Poker Run kicks off this weekend, carrying participants throughout Arkansas and southern Tennessee. Participants will have to pay $10 to play, and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

The Poker Run route starts at Summit Bank's main branch in Arkadelphia. The first bike leaves at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The last bike leaves at 10 a.m., and the last bike in is 2 p.m.

Pop duo Karmin to headline SAU free spring concert

Pop music duo Karmin is set to headline the fifth annual free spring concert at Southern Arkansas University on Thursday, April 11.

The concert will take place at the SAU track, and admission is free for students and the public. Gates will open at 5 p.m., the opening act is at 6:45 p.m. and Karmin hits the stage at 8 p.m.

Hundreds of Motorcyclists Expected In Marshall on April 5 weekend

500 to 700 members of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association will be in Marshall beginning Wednesday, April 3, for three days to participate in a five-state regional meeting. While most of the activities are for the rally members, there will be activities in downtown Marshall available free to the public.

Friday night the Gold Wings are hosting a car show and beach party/street dance followed by a Gold Wing light parade. All car owners of unique or antique vehicles are invited to cruise on down to North Washington to show their vehicle pride.

World's best bullriders headed to Texarkana, Ark.

The world’s top bull riders and bulls are headed to Four States Fair Arena on Friday March 29 for the Professional Bull Riders Cooper Tires “Mike White” Invitational Presented by Bowie County Equipment & New Holland.

Tickets, at $15, have been on sale since Feb. 20 at the following locations: Jody’s Flowers (903-667-4321), Vintaj Cowgirl (903-219-1154), Baskins (430-200-2769), and Four States Box Office. The gate at the Four States Fair Arena will be open for ticket purchases from 9 a.m. on March 29 until the tickets are sold out.

Renowned illustrator, animator to speak at SAU

Bill Plympton, renowned American animator, cartoonist, director, screenwriter and producer will speak at 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Southern Arkansas University to art students and faculty, and he will present some of his animated work at the D.W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center in Foundation Hall.
