45th Jonquil Festival set for this weekend at Ark. park

Jonquils are in bloom at Historic Washington State Park in Arkansas, and a tremendous line-up of entertainment and fun await those who will be visiting the park on March 15 through 17 for the 45th Annual Jonquil Festival.

Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. General Admission is free, with a $5 fee for parking. Park tours and programs are available at regular price with tour stops such as the BW Edwards Weapons Museum, Print Shop and the Blacksmith Shop, along with many more on the schedule.

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – After years of lawsuits and partial delays, SWEPCO has cleared a major legal hurdle and come to terms with several groups and private individuals who had sued to keep the utility from building its Turk Power Plant in Hempstead County.

Under the settlement, the plaintiffs are withdrawing their legal challenges to the plant's construction, including the challenges to the air permit and Army Corps of Engineers permit for the plant, while SWEPCO has made commitments related to the future operations and environmental activities around the plant.

New AR driver's licenses will denote military veterans

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KSLA) – Starting Friday, July 1, Arkansas veterans will have proof of their military service on their driver's license or identification card.

On the new design, the word 'Veteran' will be shown below the person's ID picture. The designation was created by "The Nick Bacon Remembrance Act" in honor of former Department of Veterans Affairs Director and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient who died in 2010.
