Miller County to begin road repaving project

More than six miles of road in Miller County will get a new surface within the next two to four weeks. The Arkansas Highway Commission approved a bid to resurface parts of County Roads 7, 25, and 41.

Salt Creek Paving and Construction Co. out of Benton, AR was awarded the contract with a bid of $207,711.51.

Once work begins, the project should be finished by this fall.

Summit Bank Poker Run kicks off this weekend

The third annual Summit Bank Poker Run kicks off this weekend, carrying participants throughout Arkansas and southern Tennessee. Participants will have to pay $10 to play, and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

The Poker Run route starts at Summit Bank's main branch in Arkadelphia. The first bike leaves at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The last bike leaves at 10 a.m., and the last bike in is 2 p.m.

500 to 700 members of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association will be in Marshall beginning Wednesday, April 3, for three days to participate in a five-state regional meeting. While most of the activities are for the rally members, there will be activities in downtown Marshall available free to the public.

Friday night the Gold Wings are hosting a car show and beach party/street dance followed by a Gold Wing light parade. All car owners of unique or antique vehicles are invited to cruise on down to North Washington to show their vehicle pride.
