Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe released $100,000 from the Governor's Disaster Fund to help the state response to Arkansas wildfires. The money will pay for Arkansas National Guard response to the fires.
Columbia County has joined several other southwest Arkansas counties in declaring a burn ban.
County Judge Larry Atkinson declared the ban on all outdoor burning within the county. According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, conditions in the area are extremely dry.
Miller County Judge Larry Burgess has issued a burn ban effective immediately for all of Miller County. The move comes as a result of the dry conditions throughout the county. The ban will remain in effect until there is a significant change in the weather.
